Remain alert, no need to panic; says PM on current COVID situation

PM Narendra Modi today stressed the importance of the team effort between the Centre and States to combat COVID-19. The prime minister lauded the efforts of COVID warriors and said that with cases rising in some states, there was a need to remain alert and work in a collective, proactive, and preventive manner.



The Prime Minister, speaking to chief ministers of various states including Goa said that attention had to be laid on scaling up manpower and making health infrastructure functional.

He said that it is important to both maintain and continue with COVID appropriate behavior, but to not spread panic. Modi stressed that vaccination was an important means of staying protected against the virus. To further this objective there is a need to have vaccination programs in schools to target children in the 6-12 year age group, he said.  

Present with the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant was Health Minister Vishwajit Rane; Chief Secretary, Puneet Kumar Goel; Secretary to Chief Minister, Ajit Roy,  and others. The chief minister spoke after the meeting.
