N District hosp under scanner as crowds congregate for vaccination, sewage overflows

Despite the state said to have officially achieved a landmark 100 plus% coverage of second dose in the adult population, large crowds of children and adults alike, were seen outside North Goa’s District Hospital, all waiting to get jabbed. A recent shift in vaccination hours has left hundreds waiting in line daily, in hopes that they would be able to get the shot.

Many of those waiting in line say that the hospital staff call them in for the shot at 2pm only to send them back home at 4:30, unvaccinated, on account of closing time.

There appears to be no system in place to sort people on priority or other basis, leading to confusions outside the vaccination centre. Police were brought in today, after fights broke out, to ensure smooth flow of those waiting.

Management appears to be one of the hospitals many problems. Not just in vaccination but even basics like sanitation. The sewage line passing through the hospital is overflowing, flooding a part of the campus as well as the road passing through the area.

Congress’ leader, Sanjay Bharde came out to demand that the governor assign engineers to rectify this issue immediately. The hospital should treat people and not pose sanitary threat to them.
