Goa is seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases, with fresh infections having touched 200 just yesterday. We’ve been reporting cases in the hundreds since August 11th, State Edpidemiologist Dr. PrashantSuryawanshi said. Margao is currently reporting the highest cases, followed by Panaji and Mapusa, he said.

COVID norms aren’t being followed strictly anymore and vaccinations have also slowed down. Even though deaths and hospitalisations are low, cases are yet to drop, so it is imperative that people remain careful during the festive season, Dr. Suryawanshi said warning that careless attitude could push infections and hospitalisations during the festive season. He also urged that people prioritize getting vaccinated.
