Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ordered Goa Police to penalise people including tourists who are seen violating covid-19 safety norms in public places. The fine for not wearing of masks have been hiked from 100 rupees to 200 rupees. Tourism activities are open fully but all safety protocols are still in force, he said. The Chief Minister specified that along with the police, the mamletdar, and panchayats too have been given the rights to fine people found without masks.

Tourists visiting Goa are still seen roaming without wearing masks. At various public places tourists are seen gathering in crowd and completely violate social distancing norms. Delhi is already witnessing second and third wave of the virus. In states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh cases are steadily rising. However, tourists coming from these states are seen without wearing masks. It was only after the Goa 365 highlighted the news of tourists roam without masks that authorities are seen to be moving to do that. Surprisingly on Saturday, the CCP workers were out penalising people while the cops were just standing around doing nothing
