A lot of confusion and panic is evident in people's protests against cremating bodies of persons who have died from Covid.
The Ponda Municipal Council on Saturday appealed to people to cremate deceased covid-19 patients in their own villages if they have a crematorium.
On the other hand GMC doctors have emphasised that there is no need to fear as the corona virus dies along with patient.
Tension flared up at Kudchirem in Ponda over the cremation of Covid-19 deceased in the local crematorium.
Later, Ponda Municipal Council convened a special meeting to discuss this issue.
Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, GMC associate professor Dr Madhu Ghodkirekar, Ponda chairperson and councillors were present.
