Goa saw 100 cases consequently for the better part of last month

The coronavirus cases in Goa have reaches 57,000 after recording 100 cases consequently for the better part of last month.



 The active cases have too surged back to 1,400 which were around 800 a month back.


Here are the top five cities/villages having most of number of cases.


Panaji is in top position with 167 cases followed by Margao 161, Porvorim 130, Candolim 119 and Ponda 111 cases.


After coronavirus cases reduced to zero from seven, a fresh outbreak of local coronvirus cases was reported first in Mormugao taluka and Mangoor hill in Vasco became the first containment zone.


The cases are once again spiraling back. There are 225 active Covid-19 cases in Mormugao taluka out of which 90 are from the Vasco Urban Health Centre, 63 in Cansaulim Primary Health Centre and 72 in Cortalim Primary Health Centre.


The positivity rate is around 5-6 percent and around 7-8 persons test positive on an average, Medical Superintendent at Chicalim Sub District Hospital Dr Anil Umbraskar said. 


 India reported 56,211 coronavirus cases in last a span of 24 hours taking total tally to above 1.20 crore.


Cases are steadily increasing for the 20th day in a row as a result the active cases have surged to beyond 5.40 lakhs. The death toll has reached 1.62 lakhs with 271 new fatalities.


Meanwhile, globally more than 12.55 crore people have been infected by the coronavirus and 27.56 lakh have lost their lives so far.


Here are 8 states which account for 84% of new cases. Maharashtra is in the lead, followed by Karnataka, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadi and Chhattisgarh.


Here are four states in focus which are showing upward trajectory in new covid-19 cases. These are: Maharashtra with 31,643 cases in last 24hrs, Punjab 2,868, Gujarat 2,252, and Madhya Pradesh 2,323 cases.
