Covid cases higher every day

India reported whopping 81,466 coronavirus in last 24hrs, marking an yet another biggest single-day jump in the year 2021.



 The country also recorded biggest single-day rise in the number of deaths at 469.


More than 36 lakh people were vaccinated against covid-19 in last 24 hours.


However, cases per hundred remain a cause of concern given the large population and the peoples reticence to vaccination observed in many places.


8 states reported 81% of new covid-19 cases. Maharashtra is leading with 43,183 cases followed by Chattisgarh 4,617 cases, Karnataka 4,234 cases, Punjab 3,616 cases, Tamil Nadu 2,817 cases, Kerala 2,789 cases, Delhi 2,970 cases and Uttar Pradesh 2,589 cases.


83% of new deaths were reported in 6 states. Maharashtra contributed most numbers to death toll after 249 deaths in last 24 hours followed by Punjab 58, Chattisgarh 34, Tamil Nadu 19, Karnataka 18 and Madhya Pradesh 12.


There are 4 states which contribute 78% to the total active cases in country. Maharashtra contributes 59.84% followed by Karantaka 5.02%, Chhatisgarh 4.72%, Kerala 4.31%, Punjab 4.0%. While, rest states account for 22% to the total active cases in the country.


These are the states in focus which are showing an upward trajectory in new covid-19 cases. Those are Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Chhastisgarh, Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab.


While, the active cases has crossed 6 lakh mark again after hitting lowest in mid February where it were below 2 lakhs. 1.63 lakhs have succumbed to covid-19 infection while more than 1.15 crore have recovered.
