Taxis, richshaws, pilots face covid brunt

The economy has came to an grinding halt and this has badly hit our lives, say many. Many have died due to covid. Others like rickshaw, motorcycle and taxi operators have got affected health wise and economically shattered.



 Chief Minister has been giving assurances, MLAs are not bothered. RTO are issuing challans.


But they don't know that we are not earning even 100 rupees in the entire day, these pilots, taxi and rickshaw drivers say.



This is the story of rickshaw, taxi drivers and motorcycle pilots of Panaji.

However, this issue is related to entire Goa.


One person said there are 70 rickshaws lined up, once in occasion he gets chance. That is the only income of the day and from that he feeds his family.


Another one said they were promised 5000 rupees per month by the government.


They filled form 2 months ago but all empty assurances. Just wait idle for entire day and go home empty handed is their story.


Petrol is rising but vehicles can't be stopped. We come with empty pockets and go with empty pockets, Yellow-Black Taxi president Gurudas Pai said.
