The MPT chairman Dr E Ramesh Kumar did not seem to be very much in the know of the chief ministers repeated assertions that coal handling from MPT would be reduced by more than 50%. He was in fact more enthusiastic about the ropeway project.

In fact the only thing he could say is that the decision to cut down coal handling at MPT was being discussed at the being higher level. However, Dr Kumar in the end sought to say that MPT was always concerned about environmental issues. But he admitted that none of the MPT staff were involved in the coal handling. And all the employees involved in it were of the companies dong the handling itself.

The chairman seemed more enthusiastic about the ropeway project and the other tourism related projects. Listen to him.
