The Corporation of the City of Panaji has introduced a Smart Roads Project, promising to resolve the menace of road digging work. All pipelines and cables will go through underground channels,

which will reduce the need to dig up roads for repair works, CCP Mayor, Rohit Monserrate said today.

Road digging for pipeline laying has left Goan roads worse for wear. Power, water, and internet connection have also faced the brunt of road work. There have been several incidents of broken pipelines and damaged cables in the past, on account of road digging,

which has seen locals without water, and electricity sometimes for days on end. All the pipes and cables, including overhead cables, will be shifted into an underground duct, after which roads will be concretised, Monserrate said.

 Panaji MLA Atannasio Babush Monserrate admitted to the state of the roads in the capital city  saying that the PWD had to plan better. However, he refused to name any particular person on the issue.
