Goa - Karnataka border porous: Cong

Officially Goans borders are sealed. And will probably be shut even after this phase of the lockdown officially ends on 3 May. However, the opposition Congress has alleged that a gazetted officer appointed by government to monitor lockdown in Cancona taluka is himself crossed the Cancona-Karwar border on several occasion. They also alleged that staff manning borders are ill equipped. Here's more.

There are reports that people from neighboring states are trying to visit Goan borders through narrow village roads. The authorities even till the level of the chief minister have said that this has been cracked down on.

However, the Congress alleged that this isstill happening. And gheraoed the personnel manning the Cancona checkpost questioning how they can allow officer to cross borders. Congress alleged the officer had visited his house at Karwar on several occasion and had even visited the corona hot spot Hubli.

The Congress also spoke about the facilities given to staff deployed at Goan borders.
