With India’s Omicron tally now at 422, several states have now imposed curfews. Himachal Pradesh has now reported its first Omicron case. Meanwhile the country reported 6,987 daily new cases with 162 deaths in the last 24 hours.



While neigbouring states of goa have imposed curfews , the state however has not imposed any curfew even after positivity rate in the state rose from a little over 1% to 3.5%.

The chief minister however has urged goans to follow Covid SOPs and avoid large gatherings as the state gears up for its peak of the tourism season with new year  parties. Listen to what Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had to say. 

 Karnataka and Maharashtra have now imposed night curfews for 10 days from December 28, between 10 pm to 5 am, in a bid to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant ahead of New Year celebrations.

While Maharashtra, which is reporting highest number of Omicron cases, has banned any open air or closed gatherings for New Year’s celebrations. With Omicron steadily rising in the country,

Prime Minister Modi has announced that children between the ages of 15 and 18 would be vaccinated too while healthcare and frontline workers along with people over the age of 60 would be given booster shots.

 While India is batting hard to prevent the 3rd wave of covid 19 in the country, China’s Xian outbreak has worsened. China has implemented a strict lockdown after cases in the country began to rise.

Meanwhile UK too has imposed hard lockdowns in certain parts since the country has been reporting nearly 1 lakh cases daily with majority of them being the omicron variant. Russia on the other has been reporting around 1,000 daily deaths due to the virus.
