Mormugao municipality declares 38 residential buildings in Vasco unsafe

24 Feb 2017 08:44 PM

The Murgao Municipal Council has declared 38 buildings including those few owned by the Municipality itself as unfit and unsafe for residential purpose in its latest report

The Council has failed to take any action on the occupants staying in these unsafe buildings.

It has also not managed to undertake repair works of their own buildings.

The issue of these unsafe and unfit buildings had surfaced after the slabs of 2 buildings collapsed in last 2-3 months.

Despite being listed as unsafe, occupants continue to use these buildings on personal risk.

Though the MMC has all powers to initiate action against those living in unsafe building, except for conducting survey and issuing eviction notice, the council has done nothing to solve this issue.

Even few of their own MMC buildings have been listed as unsafe now.
