Vegetable prices shoot up in Goan markets

The impact of farmer’s strike in Maharashtra is clearly visible even in Goa.



The prices of various veggies have either doubled or tripled in several markets across the state.

According to the vegetable vendors and wholesalers, this sudden increase in the price of vegetables is mainly because of a shortage of supply through their suppliers in Belgao and also due to the effect of the strike of farmers in Maharashtra.

Prices of several vegetables like carrots and French beans as well as Chillies and Coriander have increased in Panaji Municipal Market. 

Vegetable vendors call this rise a temporary one but also fear that if the shortage continues the prices of Potatoes and Onions may also rise soon.
