Babu Kawlekar, brother get bail

The Sessions court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to opposition leader Babu Kawlekar and his brother Babal Kawlekar.



The conditions were that Babu deposit 50,000 rupees while his brother Babal had to deposit 20000 rupees.

The court directed that both do not tamper with evidence and cooperate with the police as and when needed.

The Kawlekar brothers are under investigation by multiple agencies. The Anti Corruption Branch filed a FIR against Leader of Opposition Babu Kavlekar for disproportionate assets of 4 crores.

The next day saw ACB sleuths swoop down on three of Babu’s properties. The FIR also names his wife Savitri.

He was also booked by the crime branch along with his brother Babal for alleged involvement in the illegal lottery Matka.
