2nd Rape case within a month: Girl robbed, raped, filmed

26 May 2018 06:06 PM

Three men gangraped a 20-year-old at Sernabatim beach on Thursday night. This is the second such heinous crime that is being reported within a month. Though all 3 accused in the case have been arrested, the dastardly act once again has put our state in a bad light.

Ram Bhariya, Sanjeev Pal and Ishwar Makwana all from Indore.  They came to Goa as tourists, robbed, abused, assaulted and raped a 20-year-old who hails from a nearby village.

The victim was visiting Colva beach along with her friend.

According to the police, the act was pre-meditated and the accused filmed the incident with an intention to extort money in the future.

This is the 2nd rape case within one month, what impression are we setting for the rest of the country? ask activists and the opposition.

While the South Goa police have acted swiftly, the underlining fact of this case is all 3 accused had involved in some sort of crimes earlier.

Are we as the state faltering on keeping a tab of those entering our state?

While our netas talk big of high-ended tourists, how is the government keeping a basic security check?  Should there be a cap on tourists or at least a background fact check?
