Directorate of Film Festivals has played a cruel joke on Konkani films. Nachom-ia Kumpasar which won several awards worldwide and also broke all past records at the box office, has not been selected in the official section of IFFI – Goan Stories. Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat calls it humiliation and has sought clarification.

The DFF has selected internationally acclaimed films like Paltadcho Munis, Juze, Digant and Amori as well as national award winning K Sera Sera and also A Rainy Day.

But not Nachom-ia Kumpasar directed by Bardroy Barreto. It was the only Konkani film that was shortlisted for 88th Oscar Awards, has won 21 international film awards, 3 national awards and 10 Goa State Film awards. Total 33 screenings at international film festivals.

Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat strongly reacted at this exclusion of the film acclaimed at international and national level, besides pulling record-breaking audience in Goa and abroad.

Kamat also spoke on the allegations leveled by former international programmer of IFFI Jay Bajaj on high level corruption in festival.
