Heavy showers that lashed the state over the past many days has caused widespread damage and destruction. Trees have fallen and damaged the overhead electricity wires.

Paroda in Quepem taluka seems to have borne the brunt of the rain fury.

A canal has breached and a road has caved in in this village. Cultivations in Canacona taluka too suffered damage.

In Paroda, a canal breached and water started flowing on to the road. This also resulted in a road caving in.

The canal supplies water from Selaulim dam to Verna industrial estate and Vasco.

The canal is running open on the surface for some stretch but later the water is supplied through pipe.

In Cuncolim, the gusty winds brought down a tree that landed on overhead electricity wires. People in the area were plunged into darkness till the workers repaired the line.

Plantations in Canacona taluka have suffered immense damage due to heavy showers over the past few days.

Particularly affected were banana plantations and areca cultivations. Coconut saplings too have suffered damage.
