Doctors to be fined over mishandling of medical waste

Hospitals and doctors who do not have permission from the Pollution Control Board to dispose off Medical Waste, or those who are not registered with the IT Biotech Waste Management, will be fined. Hospitals could even be shut if they are found not adhering to the rules, president of IMA Goa, Dr. Rufino Montero said. He also urged this doctors who have still not registered to register. Here are the details.

The announcement was made by the IMA at a program held with the association with Goa State Pollution Control Board and Waste Management. Biomedical waste should be disposed in a Scientific method. The plant is already setup for the same, where the disposable process of waste takes place. Goan Doctors and Hospital managements should register themselves in the same, Dr. Ruffino said.

Urban Development Secretary Dr.Tariq Thomas was felicitated during this program. A booklet, Waste Management, was also released.
