Private players to run some part of health sector: Rane

Looks like one by one Goa’s government hospitals are being moved towards privatization. Superspeciality block of GMC would be privatized. A private medical college in South Goa District Hospital. Also deficiencies in specialties would be run by private partners in Madgao, And the whole tertiary service section of Chicalim cottage hospital would be run by private doctors. Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane has said the process has already started.



 

According to Vishwajeet, the decision of privatization is being taken as per the Niti Ayog guidelines. And union health minister Harsh Vardhan has vetoed it. This is what he said about the privatization of superspecialty block of Goa Medical College as well as deficiency services in South Goa District hospital by private players. 

 

Goa will have two medical colleges with total 500 seats. GMC will have 50 more seats. And a private medical college in the Madgao district hospital with 250 seats. 

 

 

Similarly, another privatization model would be implemented in Chicalim cottage hospital. The tertiary medical services would be run by a consortium of private doctors. By end of next month.
