Wadachi Punav celebrated all over Goa

The Hindu women celebrated Wadachi Punav all over Goa. Women take round around the banyan tree while wrapping thread to it. They pray for children and long life of the husband during this festival. Women also worshipped Lord Shiva.

At some places women fast for three days to celebrated Wadachi Punav. At some places, Wadachi Punav is celebrated while wrapping thread to the banayan tree. When there is no banyan tree at nearby, women worship twig of a banayan tree. Watch the celebrations at Mahalaxmi temple and St. Inej in Panaji. Datta Padmanabh Pith and Shree Shetra Tapabhoomi carried its yearly tradition and distributed saplings of a banayan tree to the women for worship.

Women sang folk songs on the occasion. Wadachi Punav was also celebrated with the devotional mood at Bicholim.
