Babreshwar jatra celebrated at Calangute beach

The Jatra was celebrated with enthusiasm on the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. The speciality of this jatra is stashing bananas on the roof of the temple. Devotees offer a banana bunch Keleyache Ghod to Lord Babreshwar after their prayers are answered. The bunch is later tied to the temple’s roof. A few days later these bunches are auctioned. As the temple is very close to Calangute beach, the Jatra is known as the Banana Festival worldwide. Temple president Chandrakant Chodankar gave details.
