Senior Delhi AAP leaders and ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain decided to resign from the Delhi Cabinet today. The jailed duo who hold a bulk of the portfolios submitted their resignation to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who promptly accepted the same.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court turned down the bail plea of Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia today and asked the senior leader to approach the appropriate trial court, as passing of any judgment at this stage would set a wrong precedent.

Sisodia who holds 18 portfolios, was arrested by the investigating agency for his alleged role in the controversial liquor scam. The CBI has alleged that Sisodia received kickbacks to the tune of several hundred crores that was later used for poll funding in Goa and Punjab. While hearing the application of Sisodia challenging the arrest, the Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud said:

Meanwhile Sisodia’s lawyers termed the arrest as illegal as his name was not included in the CBI charge sheet and the CBI’s allegation that he was not cooperating with the probe, was a weak excuse. His lawyers are now expected to moveto the trial court tomorrow.
