Cong slams Speaker for hoisting flag on Liberation day

19 Dec 2018 04:47 PM

The Congress condemned the act of the Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant hoisting the flag on Liberation day arguing that the office of the Speaker should be neutral.

Congress says the Constitution does not allow this. Ironically, the chief minister had inspected the Mandovi and Zuari bridges on Sunday.

This is the third time Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant is officiating at a state function on behalf of Chief Minister.

GPPC President Girish Chodankar said after a MLA is appointed as a speaker he is no longer a part of the government.

He must serve both opposition and ruling as judge. Girish also slammed governor for allowing speaker to officiate state functions.
