The National Students Union of India, Goa Unit has demanded that the government present a white paper on the recruitment of candidates under the scheme promising 8,000 jobs in different government departments.

We will not blindly agree with the government’s claim of having filled 1000 of 8000 slots, let the white paper be released in public domain, NSUI President, Naushad Chawdhuri said.

Several graduates backed by the NSUI held a protest outside DM college at Mapusa, where the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated Swayampurna Yuva Job Fair and Career Guidance. Many of the unemployed graduates were seen making pakoras at the protest as the Chief Minister’s convoy passed through.

NSUI demanded to know why the government wasn’t recruiting unemployed, qualified teachers to fulfill UNESCO’s requirement of 33% teachers in rural schools.

They have accused the government of raising the hopes of the unemployed with false promises of providing jobs even prior to the Zilla Parishad elections. The Government has no vision and plan to provide employment to the jobless youth, NSUI president Naushad accused while taking a dig at the current dispensation over the corruption charges leveled by former Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik.
