Formalin mafia controls govt: Congress

Congress has alleged that formalin mafia is controlling the government. The party claims this is the reason the government has divested the powers of FDA officer Iva Fernades who exposed presence of formalin in fish.

Congress has also lashed out at public prosecutor who said formalin is not a poison.

Congress has demanded Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to come clear on the issue.

Congress spokesperson Trajano D'Mello told media that officials who follow the rules are being harassed by the government.

He claimed that two ministers from fish industry were on record admitting presence of formalin in fish brought to Goa.

Trajano has demanded action against them if their statements are wrong.

Trajano also asserted that cancer cases are rising due to consumption of formalin-laced fish.
