Ban beef or not – beef eating questioned in state

23 Dec 2020 07:01 PM

The shortage of beef in Goa is taking an unusual turn.

Shiv Sena has asked the governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari to speak to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on cattle slaughter like he earlier preached to the Maharashtra Chief Minister on the closure of temples.

South Goa MP Francis Sardhina said BJP should not change diet habits of Goans.

However, MGP and Shiv Sena are opposing this. Shiv Sena has threatened to start a petition against this decision across Goa.

Karnataka has bought legislation banning total cattle slaughter.

Beef used to come to Goa from Karnataka.

Now this has led to a shortage of beef in Goa.

As solution to this issue, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant promised to export live cattle from other state and allow slaughter in slaughter houses in Goa.

Cong MP Fransico Sardhina says Goans have come long way eating fish and meat.

Eating fish and meat is their right and what to eat is their decision.

BJP should not try to change diet habits of Goan.
