Congressmen remember Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary

GPCC President Girish Chodankar said late Rajiv Gandhi empowered the youth of the country and encouraged sports. He said the former prime minister also gave a push for IT.



Congressmen paid rich tributes to former prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi's on his 75th birth anniversary at Goa Medical College and Hospital complex on Tuesday.


Rajiv Gandhi was born on 20th August 1944 in Mumbai.


He was an airline pilot but took over the reins of the country as Prime Minister after his mother late indira Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards on 31st October 1984.


Congressmen later went to the Congress Office in Panaji and paid tributes to late Rajiv Gandhi.

In Margao too, a function was held by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee to commemorate the day. The function was attended by Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik and others.
