The Goa Mining People's Front blamed local MP's for not following up and getting MMDR act amended. GMPF chief Puti Gaonkar said that when they met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he was convinced about the need for the amendment.

Goankar spoke to media after bandh on 26th February that they had convinced Prime Minister about importance of amending MMDR act during the meeting with PM. He feels that it can be done, specially it was discussed in the cabinet. However, local MP's didn't follow it up. Gaonkar thanked shopkeepers and other establishments for shutting down their business to support their one day bandh held on Tuesday. Gaonkar also refuted the allegation made on the mining dependents that they burnt two vehicles at Honda during the bandh.
