Garbage, multi-level parking, bank deposits rock Margao municipality meet

Opposition councilors got into a verbal duel with  Chairperson Pooja Naik.

The issues of the multi-level car park and irregularities in depositing municipal money in the bank was also hotly debated.

The issue of garbage at Sonsodo still remains unsolved. The MMC is in the centre of the controversy after a lot of lethargy in the treatment of  the garbage at Sonsodo.

Meetings after meetings were held with Goa Solid Waste Management Corporation to solve the issue but nothing fruitful came of it..

Now, the  MMC held a special meeting to discuss the setting up of bio-digester plants at Sonsodo proposed by Goa Waste Management Corporation for treatment waste of Sonsodo.

The Council decided to approve this proposal for Sonsodo treatment plant.

The issue of the proposed multi-level car parking was also taken up. After the meeting councillors and former Chairperson Arthur D'Silva said some superpower is interfering into the project.

However, he didn't take names saying the person can be MLA or a politicians.

MMC Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar admitted that irregularities are happening in day to day cash deposits in the bank. He said it will be inquired into.
