Benauli panchayat to impose Rs5000 fine for burning garbage

Garbage issue dominated the Benaulim gram sabha on Sunday. The gram sabha also opposed the draft CRZ notifications.
The panchayat has decided to impose a fine of 5000 rupees on anyone who burns garbage in the open.
The villagers also asked the panchayat body to create awareness about the new rule before implementing it.
Other issues that came up for discussion at the gram sabha were desilting of Sal river, revival of football in the village and regularization of illegal houses.
