LAUNCH DAY SEES 35 LAND GRABBING COMPLAINTS

The SIT formed in land grabbing and transfer cases will also look after past land grabbing cases filed in police stations and land deals done fraudulently. The SIT will also give its recommendation on how such crimes can be avoided in future, DGP Jaspal Singh said today.



The SIT constituted by the government is investigating illegal land deals in full swing.The SIT has arrested alleged mastermind Muhammad Shafi from St. Inez, Panaji in the matter.

This is the second arrest made since the investigations began. The SIT has also registered FIR’s against some of the accused,including government officials.

DGP said the SIT headed by SP Crime and comprising 1DySP, 2 PI’s and a deputy collectorwill investigate the matter and submit their recommendation to the government.

The SIT won’t bow to any pressure. Be it a common man or government official, the culprit will be dealt with a strong hand, DGP asserted.

 

Chief Minister dr Pramod Sawant has asked people to come forward and report land grabbing cases. He also made it clear that land lying abandoned by those living abroad falls under the government and action will be taken against those who have grabbed it.

35 complaints have been filed on the email address launched to report illegalities. The complaints will be forwarded to the department concerned to initiate necessary action, TCP Minister VishwajitRane said.
