The fruit and vegetable vendors have been served a deadline of 15th January to renew their trade licences and also clear the encroachment.

Otherwise, the Mormugao municipality would go ahead with anti-encroachment drive.

After shutting down the market for one day on Monday, the vendors are meeting municipal chief officer as well as traffic police.

Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has denied that his inspectors are harassing them.

The municipality has received written directions from Directorate of Municipal Administration and Traffic cell of Goa police to clear the roadside vendors and submit the compliance report before 11th January since it is causing traffic jam on the main road of Vasco city.
