Goa's BJP MPs have agreed to raise the demand during the ongoing Parliament session to grant scheduled tribe status to Dhangars of Goa

The demand was made by Opposition Leader Babu Kavalekar as well as Goan scientist Dr Nandakumar Kamat at Dhangar Lokotsav held in Bicholim.

The demand of GAKUVEDH was met by the centre in granting ST status to Gawada Kunbi and Velip.

But Dhangars are still being deprived.

At Dhanagar Lokotsav, Dr. Nandkumar Kamat lashed out at government for ignoring their demands.

BJP MPs Shripad Naik and Narendra Sawaikar were present at the function.

Babu Kavlekar, who hails from Dhangar community, urged both the MPs to act in this regard during the ongoing session.

Minister for Ayush Shripad Naik admitted that Dhangars are facing injustice as they were not granted ST status.

Both MP’s felt that this is the right time to raise this issue in center.
