Is govt bothered about commuters travelling along Zuari bridge construction?

Motorists had a lucky escape on Wednesday after the scaffolding of the under construction bridge collapsed injuring 4 workers. Luckily no vehicles were damaged.

But the danger still exists. Now the government is finally pushing forward on the service road, the Local MLA Alina Saldanha says.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Thursday said the file for the service road has been cleared by the Chief Minister and is awaiting financial approval.

Construction work of Zuari bridge site is happening directly above motorists or barely metres from them at various points along the Verna-Agassaim stretch.

At a location close to the site of the collapsed scaffolding, heavy construction work is in progress directly above a large number of people who use this point as a local bus stop to catch buses proceeding towards Margao.

Former Cortalim Panch and local Congress leader Devendra Kenkre expressed surprise that despite Wednesday's incident, the government has yet to come out with any statement.
