Illegal truck parking, road divider leading to accidents at Kurti

The sign ‘NazarHatiaurDurgtnaGhati’ can be seen in many places. Especially on the back of trucks. Truck drivers parking along the Kurti four-lane highway have installed medians, or dividers, for their own benefit.

 Activists have demanded that the authorities remove these illegal medians that cause accidents. Here’s more.

The four-lane Kurtihighway witnesses daily traffic as well as daily accidents. The main cause of these accidents is illegally parked trucks along the highway.

Who should be held responsible for the deaths of innocent people caused by these trucks? Questioned locals. The deadly illegal parking medians, or dividers, make it difficult to tell where a truck is coming from where they further added.

There hasn’t been a single Truck terminal constructed in Goa for the last several years. They gave petitions to the government, held meetings with the Chief Minister and made promises after promise, all to no avail.

If the government does not want to build terminals for trucks, the government should take small spaces in every industrial estate and make them transport hubs. Feroze Khan, president of Ponda goods transport association, demanded.
