Cortalim witnesses heavy traffic jam on Saturday night, potholes add to mess

22 Sep 2019 07:48 PM

Ongoing construction of the cable-stayed Zuari bridge along with pothole ridden roads bought traffic on NH 66 at Cortalim to a grinding halt on Saturday night.

Efforts of construction workers and police to manage the traffic also went into the vein. Serpentine queues of vehicles were seen stretching from Verna to Agasaim, delaying commuters for as long as two hours.

According to the police, the traffic jam was caused due to the bad condition of the roads and bottlenecks created due to construction work of bridge.

Commuters told Goa 365 that they were stopping for almost 10 minutes after every few meters. It took them one-and-a-half-hour to cross a 1km stretch of traffic jam.
