Chicalim Panchayat inspects airport project, Sarpanch says flow of natural spring blocked

Sarpanch Seby Periera said the flow of natural spring in the area has been blocked due to mud, stones and boulders during excavation.

The site was inspected by panchayat along with Panchas, officials of Airport Authority of India and PDA.

NGRF has opposed this project citing illegalities.

They have slammed the Panchayat for favoring the contractor instead of listening to the plea of the people.

NGRF said springs have been blocked and trees are felled.

The depot is meant to store explosives.

Sarpanch clarified that the depot will store only arms and bullets, not the explosives.

Periera also said contractor has given him assurance that the debris over the natural spring would be cleared.
