People across Goa have raised their eyebrows over the power bills received. On Wednesday the Bogmalo residents held a protest over exorbitant power bills and have decided not to pay bills. They also demanded relief and enquiry into checking if meters are faulty.

Several Residents of Bogmalo on Wednesday afternoon marched to the electricity department with copies of their bills after receiving exorbitant bills.

The residents met the Executive engineer and wanted to know how residents and guest houses had received many times more than the regular amounts.

Residents said that guest houses which were closed for 75 days had received bills as much as 15,000 when otherwise on a normal day when the guest house was open, the bills would be 6000.

Meanwhile, the EE maintained that the people being home in the lockdown had actually consumed that amount of power.

The EE said that the department would carry out any checks, if the department received complains.
