We will generate power out of garbage: Michael

We are trying bring in incineration technology from Norway and Sweden in Goa. This will help to treat RDF waste, non bio-degradable material, which is now sent outside to a cement factory will now be handled in Goa. It will be then converted into electricity, Solid Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo said on Tuesday.



Michael said that there should be one centralised plant where all panchayats and municipalities can dump their garbage for treating. They should collect garbage and Goa Solid Waste Management will treat it, he said. There are many garbage plants in various panchayats and municipalities but they not treating the waste but these plants are bailing the waste and not treating it. Especially wet waste. Michael said that the garbage issue is increasing in Goa. He said they are slowly tackling the garbage issue in North Coastla belt and now it would be tackled in the south Goa coastal belt soon.
