Tar balls, tourist boat vie for space with tourists, Ganesh idols at Miramar beach

Large tar balls were seen on Miramar beach on Saturday. Ironically along with tar balls, a large tourist boat was also seen grounded on Miramar beach, vying for place along with Goan devotees immersing their Ganesh idols .

Tar balls have been phenomena that is witnessed on Goan beaches heralding the beginning and the end of the monsoons. These tar balls are supposed to be the oil that settles on the bottom of the sea after being discharged by ships in the high seas. This is normally because ships wash their tanks in the high seas
