The farmers of Parra came together to protest against the electricity department for setting up electricity poles in the fields without taking their permission.

Parra farmers claim that the electricity department did not ask for a NOC from the farmers. When they complained to the Parra Panchayat, the electricity department held a meeting with the local body where the department said that it would take the interests of farmers under consideration.

But they continued their putting up of poles after the harvest forcing locals to approach the high court.

But local MLA Michael Lobo supported the decision of the electricity department, saying that the electricity department terms these lines as a right of way. He also said that these lines have been cleared by the north Goa collector.

He requested the people to let him set this lineup and after six months he will set up an underground line.
