Naik is a traditional name of Lamanis, says their President

Naik is a traditional surname of Lamanis and they are not changing their surname for Goan identity.



 This is what president of the lamani community told Goa365. Congress MLA Alex Reginaldo Lourenco however charged that they are changing surnames to grab Goan properties. Goa365 had Rannmale debate on this burning issue of Lamanis. One of the issues discussed was Lamanis changing their surname. But President of Goa Banjara Samaj Suresh Rajput said Naik is a surname of the Lamani tribe, which is used only by Rathods. Social analyst Prabhakar Timble said everybody has a right to change the name or surname and it’s not illegal. You may watch the whole debate after this news bulletin at a scheduled time.
