Margao fish vendors demand inquiry into present market sopo

Suspend the SGPDA member secretary for corruption in the Sopo collection of the fish market. Also an investigation should be carried out in over what is issue, the Wholesale Fish Market Traders Association demanded. SGPDA has also given the Sopo collection job to the old contractor instead of appointing a new contractor. This the contempt of court, association alleged.

The controversy over the Sopo collection in the Margao wholesale fish market is just refusing to die down.  We had proposed a tender with an increased amount of 2 lakhs. But this was rejected.  We will demand an inquiry, chief secretary and election commission, association president, Ibrahim Mulla said. 

The Court has given 3 months time to the SGPDA to float a new tender.  However, the same person comes to collect the sopo  along with SGPDA driver and peon, angered association members said, demanding to know what the actual Sopo collection was and how much was deposited in the treasury.
