Khareband locals up in arms over scrap yard in their area

Khareband locals and councillor Mahesh Amonkar gheroed Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Agnelo Fernande for taking no action against illegal scrap yard in the area. There is no commercial license for the scrap yard, locals alleged and warned that the authrorities should be ready to face their wrath if no action was taken against the scrap yard in 8 days.

Garbage has accumulated in the vicinity of the scrap yard. People are upset over this as the garbage attracts stray dogs and cattle. Locals had complained to their councilor Mahesh Amonkar and he in turn filed a complaint with the Chief Officer and Chairperson. But there was no action.  

 The Chairperson is unfit. We had called for an inspection thrice but he ignored it, alleged Amonkar.

The Chief Officer has inspected the scrap yard and said that he would inspect the premises once again. Action can be taken but records would be checked, Chief Officer said.
