The issue of formalin in the fish is now turning into a drama over resignation. Fish traders in Goa have asked Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s resignation because he has failed to resolve the issue for the last four month.

Vishwajeet however has questioned credentials of fish trader’s Madgao president Maulana Ibrahim to demand his resignation. And the Mapusa fish traders have condemned Churchill Alemao.

Maulana Ibrahim was reacting to the statement of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane that he would  not entertain the representation made by the Margao Wholesale Fish  Traders Association as he is not ready to compromise on FDA registration.

Maulana asked why Goa could not resolve the issue for four months when other states resolved it within 15 days.

The wholesale market association had submitted a memorandum to the FDA asking that Iva Fernandes be put in charge of checking of formalin in fish and fish be tested at all markets

Meanwhile, fish traders in Mapusa market reacted to Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao’s statement that Margao Wholesale Fish Traders Association president Maulana Ibrahim should be put in jail.
