Dr Jack Sequeria statue rocks Madgao once again

Politics over Dr Jack Sequeira’s statue has erupted once again. 14 Madgao concillors out of total 25 walked out of a council meeting and staged a dharna in front of chief officer’s office. Because the council decided to erect the statue without following any legal procedure.

Initially only 12 councillors staged a walkout from the special council meeting when Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudesai announced that municipality would go ahead with installation of Dr Jack Sequeira’s statue.

The protest was not against the statue but not following legal procedure. But when two more councillors joined their Dharna, they started taking signatures to move no confidence motion against the chairperson.

This is their second attempt. The outcome is still now known.
