Chapora jetty being privatized through CZMP: Locals

Fishermen, villagers and social activists have alleged that attempts are made to privatise Chapora fishing jetty. They alleged the CZMP plan has shown no houses in the coastline of Chapora and their jetty is shown under Sagarmala project and Mormugao Port Limits.

The CZMP plan for Siolim constituency is out.  Chapora, a small fishing village, falls in Siolim constituency. Villagers were shocked to see as their houses were missing from the plan saying there are no settlements along the Chapora coast. 

Villagers allege that earlier a similar plan was released where it showed there are no jetties in the village. The plan was rectified and the fresh plan said Chapora jetty is under Sagarmala project. Locals fear that the plan might get approved in mid March. If the plan is not rectified their livelihood will be at stake. They have written to GCZMA with their suggestions in CZMP.
