Borim Panchayat has opposed the government's new circular asking the panchayats to clear all the files through the Directorate of Panchayats. The panchayat says this is an attempt to strip the powers of the local self-governments and BDOs.

On 31st of July , the government  issued a new circular stating that all development-related files should be submitted to the Directorate of Panchayats for clearance. Borim Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Sawakar has demanded that the development files should be cleared through BDO and engineers at Taluka level.

He said  this would help in smooth development of Panchayat areas. And if the government wants to process the  files through assistant engineers  and executive engineers  they can appoint them at Taluka level.

Goa has around 189 panchayats and all developmental files going to the Directorate of Panchayats for clearance  means a likely delay.
