Tribal research centre, kunbi village to come up in 6 months

Sanguem will soon see a Tribal Research Center and a Kunbi Village. Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai while making the announcement said it will give Goan tribals and tribals from all over the country the opportunity to showcase their traditions apart from becoming a tourist attraction.



Sixteen thousand square meters of land has been acquired for the Sanguem Tribal Research Center and Tribal Village. There will be promotion and showcasing of traditional items and local products, especially Kunbi sarees and shawls will be manufactured there itself.

Subhash Phaldesai further went on to explain that 16,000 square meters of land has been handed over to the Handicrafts Corporation. There will be a showcase of tribal culture, folk art, and traditions. The tribal village will be developed through business, tourism, exhibitions and entertainment, he further added.
